Beaver Aplin, right, is Buc-ee's founder and CEO. He listens along as Harrison County Supervisor Marlin Ladner talks about the economic development the store is expected to bring in Harrison County on June 9, 2025.

Those ready to buy Beaver Nuggets and brisket sandwiches from a Buc-ee's travel center in Louisiana are going to have a wait a bit longer.

The Texas-based mega store known for clean bathrooms, dozens of gas pumps and friendly customer service was set to open its first Louisiana locations in Lafayette and Ruston by the end of 2026.

But things have changed.

The Lafayette store, set to be one of the biggest in the Gulf South, is delayed until 2028, according to the Acadiana Advocate. The Ruston location in north Louisiana will now likely open in 2027, Buc-ee's said on its website.

But for beaver-crazed Buc-ee's fans in south Louisiana, you still have options to get your fix near home.

The closest Buc-ee's to New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette opened earlier this year in Pass Christian, Mississippi, just off Interstate 10.

The Gulf Coast Buc-ee's location is one of the biggest in U.S. and, like all of the others, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
